In our last post, we discussed some tips and tricks for mapping out your wardrobe and making informed, practical decisions about what to shop for. Now that your wardrobe is (basically) complete, it’s time to get creative! Sometimes all your clothes really need is a recombination of outfits and accessories to keep your look fresh and unique without breaking the bank. Here’s what we mean:
- Accessories go a long way when it comes to making an outfit. Seriously, you could wear the same white top and skinny jeans and make it look different every time. How? By adding different accents of course! A leather jacket and a colorful scarf bring some edge, while a long necklace and waterfall cardigan create a softer, more delicate look. Mix up the way you coordinate your accessories and try out lots of different styles. YOLO, right?
- Do you often pair that black knitted top with skinny jeans and ballerina flats? Get creative and pair it with a flippy skirt, some tights and a pair of ankle boots, or try it over a dress with riding boots. Sometimes all it takes is recognizing patterns and deliberately breaking them to create a whole new effect. Most people don’t notice individual items, but just see an outfit as a whole, so this trick can take 4 items and make them look like 16 outfits, if used with a bit of creativity.
- What’s your makeup routine? And what do you do with your hair each day? Try shaking things up with a new lipstick color, or just by using a shade that you generally don’t choose for weekday use. Same goes for your hairstyles- if you usually wear your hair up in a bun, try leaving it down, or even clipping it back in a half-pony to freshen up your look with minimal effort. Simple twists and braids along the hairline are also quick, easy way to add some style to your look.
What are your favorite ways to keep your look dynamic?
Until next time,
